Episcopalians on Baptismal Mission
Are you seeking an ally in equipping and supporting laity in
claiming their mission as Christ’s ambassadors at work in the world? Episcopalians
on Baptismal Mission (EBM) is a partnership of individuals and groups dedicated
to the ministry of all the baptized in daily life. Formed in 2006, EBM is open
to all, laity and clergy, who share our vision and purpose—and a willingness to
help move the church forward.
OUR PURPOSE:
(1) To be a voice of
advocacy and an educational resource within The Episcopal Church for the
ministry of all baptized persons in their daily lives. We initiate and
support efforts to enhance the centrality of baptismal living; we assist
congregations, dioceses, provinces and seminaries in planning and implementing
educational events focused on the calling of all the baptized in daily life;
and we explore common ground and natural alliances with other Episcopal and
Anglican groups;
(2) To provide a
communications link among partners to share programs, ideas, concerns, needs,
etc.
Thanks to the actions of several dioceses at their diocesan
conventions, EBM has brought Resolution C005 (“Appoint Task Force to Study
Implementation of Canon III.1”) to General Convention, to focus the church’s
attention on supporting the ministries of all the baptized.
EBM is led by a steering committee composed of laypersons,
priests, and bishops. Web: http://livinggodsmission.org/. Contact: Fletcher Lowe, jflowe@aol.com. Come find us at General Convention, Booth #1118.
